Rude comments on youtube

Photobucket

I have disabled further comments on my youtube account.

People these days are SO nasty! Especially online. Hiding behind anonymous nicknames.

I did not post any obscene or outrageous videos. It was just a video of my maltese, Bell growling, for goodness sake. And I received comments ranging from how they want to kick my dog to hoping that it would die and calling it all sort of unmentionable names.

The last comment was this....
spewin to be that piece of shit i would put it down and laugh at its dead body... fucken hate dogs that growl at ya... ill kick any that i see across the fucken room and hope it dies

I wondered what in the video tripped the guy to make him say something malicious to me, a total stranger. Mentally deranged fellow? Trying to get attention?

Sigh. I give up. There are too many stupid idiots and retards out there. And I am not interested in the raunchy shit that spew out from their filthy mouths. So I am denying them this very pleasure of insulting me and my videos.

So good bye comments. And by disabling comments, those who got something bad to say can just brew in their own stew of vulgarity and evilness. I am not interested.

Love like you've never been hurt

I just set up a new facebook account.

And under the main profile pic is this column titled "About me".

Frankly, I really dun know how else to describe myself in so few words.

And finally I remembered something I heard sometime back on TV. And I loved it!

I do believed that it is truly who and what I am.

heart

To love like I never been hurt.
To work like I dun need the money.
To dance like no body watching.
To live like there's no tomolo.

----------------------------

I did my research on the net and found out that it originates from some Old Irish proverbs or Mark Twain:

Work like you don't need the money;
dance like no one is watching;
sing like no one is listening;
love like you've never been hurt;
and live life every day as if it were your last.

Guy Clark transformed it into a memorable song;

You got to sing like you don't need the money
Love like you'll never get hurt
You got to dance like nobody's watchin'
It's gotta come from the heart
If you want it to work

The young youtube bitch!

Gosh, I am surrounded by nasty, wicked bitches out there.

I was checking my youtube account when I saw this comment from this young american blond girl. She put her age as 15 but she really looked about 12 or so.

Hol1

Her comment was for my Maltese, Bell who was growling in the video.

She commented.....

i would have KICKED it across the floor by now.

Evil little demon child. 12 years old and radiating such wickness.

And the thing is she had pets!

In her own words,
I LUV ANIMALS ESPECIALLY MY dog! HE SO CUTE HES A CHIWAWA!! I ALSO HAV FOUR OTHR PETS 2 CATS AND 2 DOGS.

Yah....probably all kicked to death by her treacherous little feet.

For someone this young to say such bitchy nasty things to a stranger no less. And to be such a potty mouth bitch at this tender age, her parents are apparently not doing a good job raising her.

Anyway, I was not in a good mood and normally I never bother to reply to any comments. But this time, this bitch just set off my trap!

I blocked her. Yeah, I could do so, cos it's my account and I dun want anyone talking trash in my abode.

And this is my response....

For someone so young, you are such a BITCH!
May someone ass slap you and kick you across the room.

There's a new browser in town

I am a sucker for new stuff. Especially cyber stuff.

I am glad there is a new browser in town. Anything to break the monopoly of Microsoft.

Personally I have been using Mozilla Firefox and I have not been having much problems with it.

I have great faith in Google products. Their google maps are fabulous. So is their Gmail and Blogger.

Google browser shines

It shows off application's features in challenge to Microsoft's Explorer

By Alfred Siew

GOOGLE yesterday showed off a slick Web browser that promises to let users surf the Internet faster. Going by the name Chrome, it could shake up the industry as previous browser wars have done.

Google is eyeing much more: In the same way users access their e-mail on the Web now, it wants them to do their word processing and spreadsheets on a more advanced browser in future, forgoing the need to install Microsoft software.

A trial version of Chrome became available for download on Google's website, www.google.com/chrome, on Tuesday, after the company inadvertently leaked information about it days ahead of time.

In a demonstration to reporters yesterday, Google showed off Chrome's smart features. For example, its Omnibox can predict what search term or Web address the user wants based on his past surfing patterns and those of other users online.

A user looking for Amazon, the online bookstore, may need to type no more than 'Am' to bring up the link to the site.

The new browser also comes with a privacy mode that lets a user surf the Internet without leaving a trail on a computer, a feature handy for those who share computers with others at home.

With Chrome, Google is taking aim at Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser, the browser of choice for three-quarters of Internet users and which is pre-loaded on computers running on Windows.

The last browser war, which pitted Microsoft's Explorer against Netscape in the 1990s, left Netscape beaten.

Battle lines have been drawn now between Microsoft, which made its fortune selling software for personal computers, and Google, which wants to overturn that dominance with online alternatives.

By developing its own browser, Google says it is ensuring that its online applications - alternatives to Microsoft's Word, Excel and Powerpoint - can be run optimally in future.

To show that Chrome was faster than its rivals, Google yesterday set up a computer and compared the time it took to download two Java Web pages using Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Chrome streaked ahead, completing the download ahead of its rivals. A webpage with, say, a 3D drawing loaded several seconds faster.

In a video conference with reporters at Google's offices, director of engineering Linus Upson said he expected power users to be Chrome's early adopters.

'But they will tell their friends...and we are confident it will get into the hands of millions of people,' he said. He noted that the browser, using open-source software code, would benefit from add-ons and updates created by the online community.

The question for Google now is whether users will bite. Early adopters such as undergraduate Chin Su Yuen, 22, are already sold. Noting that the software is faster, she said: 'I have opened Facebook with 2,000 items on it, and it took a longer time to load on older browsers.'

Before Chrome, the alternatives to Internet Explorer have been Apple's Safari, Opera from Opera Software and Firefox from the non-profit Mozilla Foundation, which Google helps fund.

-------------------------

Star features in new browser

GOOGLE has promised that its new Chrome Web browser will be faster and smarter than its competitors, including Internet Explorer from rival Microsoft.

The company is banking on three star features to lure Internet users. They are:

# Omnibox

This is the box where you type in a website's address. It also allows you to write any term, say, Felicia Chin, and it will bring up a list of websites on the actress.

Before you even finish typing, Chrome predicts what you are after by looking up websites you visited previously, and by referencing similar searches by other Web surfers. If you have visited, say, Wikipedia.com, the box also lets you search for things on that website, without typing in its address.

# Privacy mode

If you do not want others to find out what you have been surfing, there is a new Incognito feature. It ensures that traces of your Internet session are erased the moment you exit the browser.

This means things such as virtual 'cookies', which track the items you browse on Amazon.com, for example, are not stored on the computer, so others cannot access them.

# Smart tabs

Users often surf several webpages at once on multiple tabs on their browsers. In Chrome, these tabs run on separate 'processes', so if one website takes up too much of the computer's resources or causes the software to crash, each tab can be shut down individually.

The other pages, loaded separately on other tabs, can continue running.

With current browsers, a problematic website can sometimes cause the entire browser application to freeze up.

Protecting online hosts

Spare the content hosts

By Chua Hian Hou

POPULAR technology website VR-Zone has a team of moderators - including a lawyer - who spend hours daily trawling for and removing defamatory remarks made by the hordes of users who frequent its online forum.

Defamation lawsuits, said the site's spokesman Terence Lee, have always been a headache for content companies like his, even if they had nothing to do with the comments.

So, it was with a loud cheer that Mr Lee greeted a recommendation from the Advisory Council on the Impact of New Media on Society (Aims).

The council wants online intermediaries to be given some protection from defamation lawsuits.

Such protection, said Aims yesterday, will in one stroke solve two problems: It will stop lawsuits against content hosts who had not put up the allegedly defamatory material, and overzealous censorship by content companies worried about such prosecution.

Since the Internet 'is potentially a medium of virtually limitless international defamation', people are more likely to sue 'borderline defendants with very little role in the dissemination of the defamation simply because the creators... may be difficult to locate or anonymous', the report said.

Singapore's defamation law allows people to go after the person who made the offending remarks, plus others in the 'chain of publication'.

Currently, network service providers, including SingNet and StarHub which give users access to go online, are free from defamation lawsuits.

But Internet Service Providers (ISPs) must not have made the defamatory remarks and must agree to a 'credible and authenticated' request from the victim to remove the allegedly defamatory material. Such a request is called a take-down notice.

But it is not clear whether content hosts, from blogs to citizen journalism site Stomp, are similarly protected.

Since no case involving a content host had gone to trial, the law remains untested, said Aims.

This 'ambiguous and uncertain' position means content hosts 'have little incentive to continue carrying, hosting or linking the allegedly defamatory material, and may in the face of a complaint err on the side of caution' and simply remove the offending material, it added.

This 'may lead to abuse by persons who wish to have truthful but unfavourable material removed'.

Aims' recommendation: offer content hosts protection similar to that given to ISPs, for defamation. It also suggested introducing a 'put back' notice, allowing users to force content hosts to reinstate the original material. This, it said, would 'prevent abuse of the take-down regime as a means of censoring speech'.

Nominated MP and lawyer Siew Kum Hong, who blogs, said it is 'generally a good thing for all parties involved to have their rights and obligations clearly spelt out'. He is among several in the legal community involved in Aims report.

The surfacing of Is

I was surfing the net when I came across the profile of a friend, Is.

He had an account in some website some time back and suddenly one day, he just deleted his account.

I asked him about it some time later and all he could said was that he was tired of the account profile.

Every few months or so, I would check on his profile. Out of curiosity. I was really curious about how's he doing.

And yeah...he is now a partner in a hair salon. That bitch just one day messaged me that he's opening a hair salon with his former boss.

We used to trade Christmas and festive season sms. But these days, sometimes he doesn't even respond. Too busy, overseas or simply dun care and not interested. I dun know if he's still my friend. Maybe cos I am of no value to him anymore?

I remembered his birthday and send him a sms to wish him so. But the fellow forgot my birthday.

I do missed him and the rapport we used to had. But that was years ago.

Even now, when we do speak once in a while, once a year or so, we felt like strangers.

How did it happen? Did we just drifted apart? Have we outgrown each other?

This is one of his slutty photos. The other photos are too obscene for the general public.
Is
Hmm...I think the photos he posted contradicted with what he wrote about himself. His photos showed various stages of undress and yet in his own words, he's showed disinterest in other people, preferring to dwell in his own world.

Weird. I think he is getting weirder as he became older.

And the following below is how he described himself.

A sympathetic guy who enjoy eating, traveling and sports with an attitude who lives in his own world ...

i'm anti social and prefers to be isolated . i'm also very selective when it comes to meeting people

but those who knows me well know that i'm not problematic & not a dramatic person.

Bitchy bullies terrors on cyber forums

bitches
Online forums are a very wicked and bitchy place. I know. I have been there.

Some years back, I became a member of a lifestyle forum. Initially it was fun and there was a wealth of knowledge to be mined out there.

I even became a senior member with a few thousands posts, chalking the top poster position for some weeks.

And then I think I might have offended someone with something I said unwittingly. Some members were tearing apart this fellow in the news and I stepped in to defend him. I did not know the fellow but I felt that if you dun know the fellow and real facts that really happened in life, dun go around and bash him online. Based on some news article, some of the bitches were threatening to beat this guy up and sending him death threats!

And boy, I was also torn apart and mutilated online. They were just bitching and criticizing every single post I wrote in the forum, relevant or not relevant. There were some who were my "supporters" though.

Frankly I was disappointed and disgusted with some of the bitches online. I mean, just because it is on cyber world, and that you can hide behind a nick, it did not give you the right to attack others online.

Say it to me in my face if you dare, person to person and we can even have a bitch fight!

I was also another member of another forum.

Well, this one was even worse. Some of the moderators were so fucking bitchy bullies! They took sides with certain favored members, deleted posts and even topics that they personally dun like, etc. In other words, they abused their authorities and privileges.

Frankly, I gave up. The real world was bitchy and treacherous enough and this online cyber world was even worse. The netizens and members can simply be so vicious and poisonous. And I dun think they are like that in real life. Frankly, some of the things people said online are not what they would say in person, face to face.

That is not so genuine and sincere. That is so fake! It's like in real life, they are sweet and nice. But online, with anonymity and no one to see their real identity, they can be their own evil, demonic, bitchy self.

I was unhappy and in some way affected by some of of those bitches were saying. And SO advised me against visiting the forums. I was happy when I first discovered the joys of posting and sharing on online forums. But I was miserable when people just did not have anything good to say. I had enough of online forums.

I have stopped visiting online forums regularly. There is a wealth of information out there, but it is not really worth the drama, the bitchiness, the cruelty. I got better things in life.

Youth online

Terror on the Web

With growth of online connectivity, bullies unleash their malice on the Internet

By Sujith Kumar

JAMES Tan was 15 by the time he stood up to his school bullies. After being harassed for years at his Bedok secondary school, he took them on in a fist fight.

After the challenge, they backed off - or so he thought. Months later, they launched a different campaign, this time online.

On Friendster, a social networking site, his profile was hijacked. Cyberbullies rewrote his personal information, changing his address to Geylang and calling his relatives pimps and prostitutes. The bullies posted pictures of naked men and women on his webpage before sending lewd messages to his female classmates.

The coup de grace: They changed the password to his account and e-mail so that he could not log on to remove the information. 'I wanted to get those pictures off, but I couldn't log on, couldn't get in, couldn't get the account deleted,' said James, who left his secondary school last year to study culinary arts.

'There was nothing I could do.'

His case is not unique. A Straits Times survey of 100 teens aged 13 to 17 showed that all had some encounter with online bullying one way or another. A third of all respondents said they had been victims of persistent online attacks. Of this one-third, 50 per cent said bullies spread stories, rumours and lies about them.

As technology marches forward, experts worry that the wired generation could become increasingly victimised online.

The executive director of website WiredSafety, Ms Parry Aftab, said: 'Cyberbullying growth in the region is enormous. I expect that in Singapore, where everyone is connected via broadband and mobile devices, you will see similar growth.'

Victims are usually insulted on blogs, in Internet chatrooms and during online gaming.

Teens tell The Straits Times it does not take much to get them to be mean - just boredom. One 13-year-old victim, who wanted to be identified only as Davi, recalled how, as a newcomer to her school two years ago, classmates sent her nasty messages about her sexuality at a video-sharing website.

Soon, strangers joined in the slandering. 'They didn't even know me because they were from all over the world,' she said.

Indeed, about 30 per cent of young people in The Straits Times' survey said they themselves had bullied others.

Ms Esther Ng, founder of the Coalition Against Bullying for Children and Youths (Cabcy), has witnessed bullies in the making. Even fine students, she said, are prone to 'revenge or the urge to hurt someone else'.

James, for one, said he no longer feared his old school bullies catching up with him. When asked what he would do if they did, he said: 'I don't know, but I have knives now.'

No place is safe

THE explosion of social networking sites, gaming communities and Internet forums has created ample opportunities for cyber-bullies.

Because these hot spots are accessible from home, victims may feel that there is no safe place for them, said Ms Geraldine Tan, a psychologist at Centre for Effective Living, a private clinic. 'Cyber-bullying can also be more dangerous than physical bullying as the victim may not know his abuser and the bully is unable to see the extent of the damage.'

At sites like MySpace and Facebook, teens say incidents begin with comparisons about who has the most number of friends.

Gamers pick on weaker players, while in chatrooms, insults are hurled. Blog tagboards attract sarcastic remarks, while online forums breed personal attacks that include defaced pictures of victims.

Reports and studies conducted by experts all over the world say bullying also differs between the sexes.

Girls go for relational bullying, which includes backstabbing, gossip and social exclusion. Boys prefer direct aggression, such as killing their target's game character and hurling vulgarities.

One player, John, said: 'I was playing an online game and a friend swore at me over the Internet voice chat. I took revenge by killing the guy multiple times in the game.'

A 16-year-old - who wanted to be known only as Magdelene - faced a female cyber-bully who wrote on her blog: 'You're so fake and your English sucks.' 'I was upset, of course, but what could I do?' said the Secondary 4 student who attends a school in Ang Mo Kio.

When online aggression becomes offline reality, Ms Tan said, some victims feel lost and 'haunted'.

Being victimised in a place where parents cannot help 'can force a teen to develop extreme coping strategies such as withdrawal, self-mockery and rage', said Dr Ilya Farber, an assistant professor of social science and philosophy at the Singapore Management University.

Other experts say victims should save the evidence and report online attacks to parents, teachers or counsellors. In the worst cases, the law too can protect victims.

Mr Adrian Tan, a litigator with Drew and Napier who specialises in IT disputes, said cyber-bullying might be an offence under the Miscellaneous Offences Act, which carries a fine of up to $5,000.

Anonymous abusers, if caught, face tougher consequences. 'They will be given an additional punishment of two years' jail, according to Section 507 of the Penal Code, which discusses criminal intimidation by anonymous communication,' he said.

----------------------------

Dare to flame? Then name and shame!

# What online bullies and victims do, and steps taken to curb cyberbullying:

Boasting: In one recent case, a victim attracted online rage at a forum by boasting about his great looks. Next thing he knew, his pictures were defaced and he was mocked.

Flame of the forum: Online bullies tend to 'flame' other users on a whim, especially at forums, where different views are expressed. A check on discussion threads at popular forum sites such as HardwareZone and VR-Zone reveals various personal attacks.

Defending the victim: Comments posted can go either way. Although some are cruel, others may tell bullies to back off if users feel they have gone too far.

Trolling: This refers to posting controversial and sometimes nonsensical messages on forums, aiming to extract emotionally charged responses from users.

Retaliation: Some teens fight back by arguing with the bullies, sometimes exchanging vulgar insults. Others remain silent, hoping for the attacks to die down.

Un-moderators: Online forums have guardians in the form of moderators who are often senior members, but not all are kind in nature. Some are even guilty of bullying.

Name and shame: Forum participants, like Mr Sitoh Kheng Wai, 22, want bullies named and shamed. 'Offenders should be hauled up and punished by moderators. If a few red faces can lower the incidence of cyberbullying among students, why not?' said the third-year biotechnology student at the University of Queensland, Australia.

Banned list: Forums such as The Straits Times online portal Stomp publicly lists banned and warned members. Administrators remove offending comments, warn perpetrators and ban users. Stomp editor Serene Siew explained: 'Stomp has a no-tolerance rule for flaming and bullying.'

Awareness: As many as 25 secondary schools are helping students with 'cyberwellness' programmes. Cases of bullying are treated with corrective action emphasising counselling and mediation.

'Sense, Think, Act': This is the Ministry of Education's message to students in its School Bullying Management Kit, distributed to all secondary and primary schools last year. It helps them to detect threats online and take precautions.

Primary 4 to 6 pupils and Secondary 2 and 3 students will be given a 'cyberwellness' guidebook next month. The guide will go digital from next year.

Photographer dreams of creating a virtual tour of S'pore all through his lens

He gets chased away but won't give up

By Liew Hanqing

HE has been chased away and has had his e-mails and phone calls ignored. But that hasn't stopped him from trying to capture as much of Singapore on camera as possible.

Photography enthusiast Aram Pan, 32, runs SingaporeVR.com, a website which features online virtual-reality (VR) tours of places in Singapore.

He creates his VR tours by 'stitching', or joining photographs taken from different angles, giving viewers the illusion that they are actually there.

He has created tours of more than 30 local attractions, including the Merlion, Orchard Road and Kranji war memorial. He also regularly covers events, such as the Singapore Food Expo and the Singapore Airshow.

But getting these photographs is not always easy.

Said Mr Pan: 'Sometimes when I need to get permission to shoot an attraction, I need to go through so many people. 'And people say they don't understand why I am doing this, and are reluctant to give me permission to take pictures.'

Mr Pan explained that the project is purely a hobby and he does not profit from it. He has invested more than $2,000 on it.

He said: 'It's difficult to get permission to shoot in some places, especially places of worship.' He recalled being stopped from entering a Hindu temple with his camera. 'I also tried to take a photograph outside the Chinatown MRT station but was chased away by one of the staff,' he said.

The Singapore Tourism Board now helps Mr Pan get permission to take pictures at some attractions he previously had difficulty accessing, such as the Singapore Flyer.

He now hopes to create a series of VR tours, taken from the top of tallest buildings here.

But getting permission to do so has been next to impossible. He lamented: 'Ever since the 11 Sep terrorist attacks (on the World Trade Center in New York), people seem more wary of photographers. 'I used to be able to take photographs just about anywhere, and nobody really bothered me.'

Mr Pan, who runs a company distributing health supplements, set up his VR website in February. Since then, it has attracted about 50,000 hits.

He began his foray into VR tours about five years ago, creating online tours of residential and commercial properties.

WORKING FOR CAUSES

He also works with non-profit organisations to help create awareness of the work they do.

Ms Sally Pang, 44, a volunteer with Breakthrough Missions, a home for former drug addicts, worked with Mr Pang in creating a virtual tour of the home for the organisation's website. She said: 'His work helps bring a greater understanding of the work done by this organisation. People will also have a better idea of what the home's facilities are like.'

Ms Pang, who maintains the organisation's website, added: 'Aram puts so much effort into these projects. He always does them wholeheartedly.'

Mr Pan also worked with World Vision Singapore, a Christian relief organisation, creating a VR tour of one of its exhibitions to raise awareness about HIV and Aids. Mr Pan said he hopes to add a section on his website with video clips of interesting places in Singapore by the end of this year.

He also hopes his site will one day be comprehensive enough to be recognised as Singapore's official virtual reality tour. He said: 'Doing this gives me a lot of joy, and I hope it brings joy to people who see my work too.'

Bad bad place of IT and electronics

The bad bad place of IT and electronics is a place known as Sim Lim Square. Gosh, there has been so many reports of scams and double charging of prices that the place is like some black markets set up by crooks!

Local dun patronize the place for IT and electronics products. Especially those shops on the 1st 2 levels. Only tourists are dumb enough to visit the place and think the products are cheap. By the time they found out the products are faulty, it's too late and they are back in their own countries.

Never buy a computer or laptop from those shops which are not authorised dealers or distributors. Some friends did. Their laptops came with 3-5 year service warranty. But after the 1st year, some of the shops have already closed down.

So, do your research. Dun go for cheap stuff there. If it is too cheap, it's probably came with some strings attached.

Charged double at camera shop

Man returns for a refund but claims he was told to get out.

Shop admits to charging double, but denies threatening the customer.

Daryl Lim

HE thought he had a bargain on his hands. But Mr Narayan, 35, ended up paying double the price.

On 25 Jun, the marketing consultant went to Sim Lim Square to buy some MP3 players as gifts for his friends. While there, he went into a camera store to look at the lenses on sale. After some bargaining, he bought a Sigma macro lens for $1,485. He also got two filters, which cost about $20 each, as freebies.

Mr Narayan paid for it using his American Express (Amex) card. But he said he still wasn't convinced about the price. He logged on to the Internet to check the actual price of the lens and found that it was priced around $750 at various retailers - almost half of what the shop had charged him. 'I realised that they had made a fool out of me,' Mr Narayan told The New Paper.

Mr Narayan, a foreign national, also realised he had not been given an invoice for his purchase, and the warranty card was unstamped. The next day, he went back to the shop to seek redress. There, Mr Narayan claims, he was first shown a few price lists and told that the price he paid was the correct one.

When he insisted that the shop had made a mistake, he was told that they had already settled payment with Amex, and that they could not refund him the difference. Instead, he was offered a teleconverter. Mr Narayan refused the offer and repeated his request for a refund. Then, Mr Narayan alleged, the shop manager took his lens, kept it behind the counter, and told him: 'You get out. You did not return the lens to me, you do whatever you want.'

Mr Narayan said at that point he feared for his safety. 'They looked like they wanted to beat me up,' he said. He left the store but returned a while later and wrangled with the manager until he got a cash refund of $705 and the macro lens with a fresh invoice.

As he left the shop, the staff allegedly told him: 'Don't try to act smart. Just get out of here immediately.'

When The New Paper visited the shop last week, the manager admitted that he had charged Mr Narayan double the retail price. He also admitted that in the heat of the moment, he might have been 'a little hot-tempered'.

DENIAL

But he denied threatening Mr Narayan. 'There were other customers in the store. How to threaten? The other customers will be scared away,' he said.

A check with Sigma Singapore Marketing revealed that the shop in question is an authorised retailer of their products. Mr Seah Seng Choon, executive director of the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case), confirmed that Case had received negative feedback against the shop before.

'We received two cases in total, one each in 2007 and 2008,' revealed Mr Seah. Case does not investigate or take action unless a consumer lodges a formal complaint.

For now, Mr Narayan has decided to let the matter rest. 'I got my money back,' he said.

Photo Sharing Sites

The other day i discovered this new photo sharing site, YouREP with 2Gb memory space. YouREP stands for You Represent. Anyway, it is still in beta stage. And I am wary of these beta sites. But it was Time magazine top 10 websites for 2006.

I am still testing YouREP. So far so good. They do allow photos of quite sizable portions.

----------------------------------

The other time, i used another photo sharing site, Esnips also in beta stage. And after not logging in for few weeks, I found out that I just could not logged in anymore! And even after i clicked on the "Forgot Password" column, and changing my password, i still cannot get into my folders! Damn! All those photos and videos are lost somewhere!

The site do offer an attractive 5 Gb memory. But TRY AT OWN YOUR RISKS! Dun say you have not been warned!

Below is the email response they sent me after i emailed them my problem.

---------------------------------

Dear user,

Did you use the virification email to activate your account?

First of all let's make sure you haven't gotten the confirmation e-mail: Please go to the junk mail folder in your e-mail account and look for the confirmation e-mail there (your anti-spam software might have sent it directly to your 'junk mail' folder).

If the e-mail is nowhere to be found, try signing in to your eSnips account again, to prompt resending the confirmation e-mail.

If you don't receive it the second time (don't forget to check the junk mail folder), and have another e-mail account, I recommend that you open a new account with the other e-mail address.

(Preferably not a hotmail or your internet provider e-mail account).

Kind regards,
Meital Bichler
Technical Support

----------------------------------

What do they mean by open a new account? What about my old account? When a site loses the content of their users, they lose their credibility! And if it can happen once, it can definitely happen again!

And do they think I am some sort of retarded idiot? Of course, i read the verification email they sent me, clicked on it and changed my password! But the problem is that I still cannot logged in after that! All it appeared on screen is a blank page!

And they even spelled "verification" wrong! Where is this site operating from?

---------------------------------

Updated: Jul 2007

I have tried accessing the website of YouREP for quite a few days now. I think the website is GONE! So much for beta site!

Did it run short of funding? How on earth did it get selected for Time magazine top 10 websites then?

Screw you, You REP! I will never trust another beta site again!
