Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

I came across this funeral poem in the papers last year. Really liked it, but did not have time to note it down then. Came across it again when I was surfing the net today. Maybe I would like to have this engraved on my urn or gravestone. My definite favorite so far!

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.

Another more detailed version:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush.

Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

In fact, there's a whole lot of history behind this poem.
